How Do We Accept This?
Some of you may have noticed Animal SOS is not as active at Columbus Animal Care and Control as in the past. Communication with Animal Control and among rescues has broken down, leaving rescues to learn critical information from public Facebook posts.
Many injured dogs needing urgent care sit in kennels. Policies around stray hold and medical care have tied rescues’ hands, and promised policy changes have not happened. As of the writing, Animal SOS was aware of many impounded dogs needing medical attention, including a mother with newborn puppies.
Rescues are doing more directly with the public. There is still meaningful work to do in the community without engaging in city chaos. The problems start in the community, and that is where the answer can be found.
